Jacqueline Kennedy leaving the Élysée Palace
Channeling my icon, Jacqueline Kennedy, Halloween 2011.
This was my loose interpretation of an outfit she wore during her trip to France c. 1962.
For her visit to Notre Dame Cathedral, Jackie wore a double-breasted light-weight wool coat in Watteau pink. The coat was fitted to the upper body with a narrow cut, with the hem gently flaring to an A-line. c. 1961.
President de Gaulle was very taken by her beauty, her manners, and her knowledge of French history. When she told him that her grandparents were French, the delighted French president replied, “Madame, so were mine!”
I adore this coat and the beautiful purple dress she wore under it, however, I am not very fond of the hat. :P
Philippe Petit on the wire (Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, 1971)
This guy is phenomenal! If you haven’t seen the film Man on Wire, I highly suggest you remedy that!
